Middletown’s 2011 Middfest International kicks off its 30th annual event on September 30th, celebrating the country of Peru. This event takes place in and around the Middletown City Building on Donham Plaza. This festival has introduced a different country’s culture, art, and business to the American Midwest since 1981 when it first began.
This weekend-long festival which runs Friday, September 30th through Sunday, October
2nd features an in-depth look into the country’s culture in a fun, festive environment! There will be cultural exhibits in literature, language, science, history, and art in addition to hands-on activities and live performances from Peru natives and local entertainers. Throw in delicious food from a variety of countries throughout the world to ensure a delightful experience for the whole family!
Some festivities will include:
- an exhibit featuring the Art Central Foundation on the country of Peru, live music performed by OGADE (Oxford Gourd and Drum Ensemble)
- a gourd crafting workshop for 5 to 11 year olds.
- an Ambassador’s Luncheon at the Wingate by Wyndam and Meridian Conference Center on September 30th, from 12:00- 1:30 p.m. 7500 Tylers Place Boulevard, West Chester, 45069
Get involved!
If you would like to get involved with the community, Middfest International and Middletown city would love the help! There are many different sponsorship opportunities, and even the little things will help out and make Middfest a better and more enjoyable experience for everyone.
If your company or organization or one you know of would be willing to sponsor, contact Executive Director Virginia Ritan to discuss the available opportunities.
